Nowadays, having a nice looking website is extremely important to any business. You need a site that firstly caters for all devices, it then needs to display well across different browsers, and most importantly it needs to be SEO optimised.

When a new customer discovers your company, first impressions count, and having a site that takes to long to load, doesn’t look right on a phone or has copy that’s old can really reflect upon your companies brand. But, if done right, it could be your 24/7 salesperson.

  1. Your customers can’t view your site on their mobile devices.

If either yourself, an employee or customer cannot correctly view the contents of your website on a mobile phone then this should be raising concerns. In 2018, 52.5 percent of all web traffic was generated through mobile phones. If someone can’t correctly navigate through your site on their mobile device, then it’s likely that they will click away and head over to one of your competitors sites.

2. You cannot change the content.

Content marketing has become a very important role in the success of your business. Having good content that’s regularly published and updated to your site can play a huge role in the success of your business. Being able to publish and update content is easy, if your site was built using a CMS (Content management system). If your site is just plain HTML that you’re unable to edit without a programmer, then it might be a good time to consider having your new site built around a CMS like WordPress.

3. It looks outdated.

With the constant change in responsive web design, and new trends being introduced, it can be hard to keep up to date with everything. There are still a huge number of businesses that have websites that look like they were done decades ago. Even customers with no experience in web design can tell how outdated a site looks.

An outdated site is bad for your business. A customer will often go to a competitor with a much better looking site that’s easy to use.

4. Functions of the site don’t work properly.

Having a good design is one thing, but making sure all features of your site work is just as important. If some of your features aren’t working properly then you will loose business.

Being able to understand how a customer interacts with your site can be beneficial to your business. Many companies still have no idea on how many users are viewing their site on a daily basis. Using third party tools like Google Analytics will help you to better understand where your traffic comes from, and who your traffic is.

As well as being able to view analytical data about your sites traffic, other marketing such as SEO play a vital part in generating you new business. If your site and content isn’t SEO friendly, then you could be missing out on lots of organic traffic to your site.
